Michelle Roy M.Ed, CALT, LDT

PRESIDENT

After spending 11 years teaching students how to read in her public school classroom, Michelle couldn’t ignore the burning desire to spend more time with her students who were struggling to learn to read. She knew there was something more these kids needed and she wanted to be the one to give it to them. So she boldly closed the door to her classroom teaching career and opened a new one where she focused on all things to do with teaching the science of reading. She firmly believes that success in reading is built in the foundation and has loved developing a curriculum for the early readers that is engaging and based off of scientifically proven reading strategies. Her mission is to share this knowledge with teachers and students everywhere, no matter the limitations, so kids don’t have to struggle and can begin their school careers confident and happy readers!

Keshia Megie-Thompson

M.Ed., CALT, LDT

SECRETARY

Keshia’s education career began when she substituted in a district in New York City that predominantly served the special needs population. From there, she moved to Dallas and began teaching in underserved communities with very limited capital and resources. The families in both of these communities held literacy as one of their biggest core values, so it was clear to Keshia that her mission was to help build a bridge between what they wanted to be possible for their children and what society made them believe they could attain. After graduate school, she had the opportunity to switch gears and work in a top performing all-girls school where resources were abundant. This further fueled her drive to ensure that what was possible for those young girls could be possible for children across the globe. This left her with the tough decision to end her time in the classroom and begin working in a private sector that would allow her to reach more students and work towards global literacy and empowerment.

Cristin Matula

MEMBER

Cristin Matula is well versed in the education sector with 9 years of teaching experience in a middle school classroom. It was during those experiences where she couldn’t help but notice the glaring need for more specific interventions for struggling readers. Students were being left behind because they could not afford or did not have access to quality literacy instruction. As a mom of three the importance of foundational literacy for all children has become a passion of hers. She is honored and blessed to be able to join this noble dream of providing resources to get the help that so many students desperately need.
